Many of us depend heavily on home appliances for our daily activities like cooking, washing dishes and cloths, cleaning floor and so many other activities. These appliances help to complete our work simply, neatly and efficiently. Home appliances are very much relevant to today’s fast phased world where nobody seems to have time to perform even basic activities like cooking and washing.

 When our home appliances stop working, most of our daily activities are affected, our life becomes miserable.  We want to rectify it as soon as possible and resume working immediately. If the appliance is within the warranty period the vendor or manufacturer some how rectify the problem and in most extreme cases, even they replace with a new one.  The vendors ability in providing flawless after sales service is a crucial aspect in buying any articles especially, home appliances. This aspect needs proper consideration while purchasing any home appliance. Although the price is the main criteria, the other aspects like quality of product, service facilities provided by the vendor are some of the prime considerations for going for a home appliance.

When your home appliance starts malfunctioning the immediate action from your part would be stop using it immediately.  Using the appliance with the same condition will lead to further damage. And also do not attempt to repair yourself if you are not properly acquainted with its repairing methods. If you attempt repair yourself and failed in doing so, there are two problems immense. The first one is that  is you are further complicating the problem, second but most important is that the manufacture or vendor will decline to accept his responsibility to repair or replace that appliance. He will allege that the appliance was opened and tempered with unauthorized person; hence they can not accept the responsibility.

There are many ways to approach a home appliance service center when your appliance breaks down. Most common one is to inform them on phone. Usually they ask you the nature of problem. If it is a minor one, they will help you to solve yourself by giving some instructions on phone. In case it is a major one they will depute a technician, who will visit your home and rectify the problem. One has to be very careful while entertaining such people in their houses.  We have seen TV programs that criminal elements gain access into the houses in the name of home appliance service technicians and indulge in criminal activities. To avoid such incident one has to verify the credentials of the servicing people by asking their ID Cards and counter checking with the servicing company. Until they finish their work and leave the place one has to be very watchful, especially where elders stay alone at home. It doesn’t mean that all the service people are doing such activities, but few people’s action cast a shadow on the entire profession.

Most vendors provide home appliance service only during their warranty period. There are many companies who provide extended warranty service for home appliance after the expiry of manufacturer warranty. They charge nominal amounts depending upon the cost and age of the appliance. These home appliance service providers attend break down calls as well as replace the appliance it is not to be rectified.
