About
Julia Roberts |
|
Julia is likable all the way
through; no one ever seems to have anything bad to say about her, in
contrast to many other popular actresses. Although having the media
constantly watching you like a hawk must be aggravating, Julia's sense of
humor and outgoing nature shine through in her willingness to always mug it
for the cameras.
Even before winning her first Academy Award in 2001 (for her performance in
Erin Brockovich), Julia was a favorite among casting directors. In the wake
of receiving her Oscar, the offers obviously increased dramatically. After a
string of box-office flops, Julia is now considered to be a marquee name.
She can hold her own against anyone in Tinseltown -- and that's a fact. Ever
since her status as the blockbuster queen of the summer of 1999, with roles
in Notting Hill and Runaway Bride, a string of recent successes have
positioned her among the highest paid actresses in Hollywood.
Julia is a study in contradiction. Her luminous smile is an incredible
turn-on. Still, the somewhat graceless way she walks can be a turnoff.
Everyone has come to recognize Julia Roberts' million-dollar smile. It's
that smile, coupled with talent and remarkable charm, which led Julia
Roberts to become one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood and one of
the most recognizable faces in the world.

Julia Roberts as Actress
|
|
After making her film debut in Blood Red -- which wouldn't be released until
1989, despite having been completed in 1986 -- and appearing in several late
'80s television features, Roberts got her first real break in the 1988
made-for-cable drama Satisfaction. That role, consequently, led to her first
significant supporting role -- a feisty pizza parlor waitress in 1989's
Mystic Pizza with Annabeth Gish, Lili Taylor, and a then 19-year-old Matt
Damon. While Mystic Pizza was not a star-making film for Roberts, it
certainly helped earn her the credentials she needed to land the part of
Shelby, an ill-fated would-be mother in Steel Magnolias. The 1989 tearjerker
found her acting alongside Sally Field and Shirley MacLaine, and culminated
in an Oscar nomination for Roberts. After sometimes, Julia tried to expand
her career playing in a box office thriller "Sleeping With the Enemy," in
which she portrayed a battered wife who escapes from her husband and starts
a new life (1991). At the same year, she also played Tinkerbelle in Steven
Spielberg's "Hook" before the next two-year period she had no acting roles
other than her 1992 cameo appeareance in Robert Altman's The Player.
Subsequently, Julia played in the successful The Pelican Brief, based on
John Grisham novel, that also co-starred Denzel Washington.
She Won Oscar award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Erin Brockovich
(2000).

| No, That's Not Julia Roberts' Nipple |
|
|
See that
weird thing on Julia Roberts' breasts? Well, it's not her nipple. It's
actually a really gross mole. According to StarPulse, the mole made an
appearance at a recent event, and now has cancer experts attempting to
warn the actress. Of course, as tabloid diagnosis usually goes, doctors
are mixed on their analysis of the mole.
After seeing photos of the actress' mole Dr. Christine Horner, a cancer
expert and plastic surgeon in Taos, New Mexico, where Roberts has a
home, tells tabloid the Globe, "I would definitely remove the mole. It
is raised, pigmented and greater than a centimeter, which statistically
increases the risk of it converting to malignancy."
But Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. David Stoll insists the blemish
looks as if Roberts has already had a growth removed. He adds, "It looks
like a scar from the removal of a growth." |
