Pink was initially viewed as yet another face in the late-'90s crowd of teen pop acts

About Pink

Pink's Picture

Although she was initially viewed as yet another face in the late-'90s crowd of teen pop acts, Pink quickly showed signs of becoming one of the rare artists to transcend and outgrow the label. she's only 21 years old and has the same color hair as most children's troll dolls, Pink's tendencies and undeniable talent prove that she's more than just a passing phase in today's world of musical talents. there's a sparkle in Pink's eyes that hint at a devilish sensuality. Rapping about breakups in "There You Go" and the bling in "Most Girls", everything in this 21-year-old singer/songwriter's life is just rosy.

"I was extreme... from skateboarder to hip-hopper to rave child to lead singer of a rock band -- I did it all, and all at the same time." -Pink

Pink's Birthday

Christened Alecia Moore, Pink was born September 8, 1979, to parents James and Judy. While growing up in Philadephia, her father played Bob Dylan and Don McLean songs on the guitar, which served as inspiration to Pink's pursuit of a musical career.

A young Pink proclaimed her love for music by running through her house singing songs, and creating her own fantasies by doing so. While growing up, the Philly club scene provided her the venue to express herself by both singing and dancing. At the age of 13, Pink met a popular Philly club dancer named Skratch, who she started dancing with. This led to her singing backup in his rap group, Schools of Thought.

Pink was spotted one night by an executive for MCA, who asked her to audition for an RB group called Basic Instinct; although she got the gig, the group imploded not long after. She was quickly recruited for a female RB trio called Choice, which signed to L.A. Reid and Babyface's LaFace label on the strength of their demo; however, they too disbanded due to differences over musical direction. During Choice's brief studio time, producer Daryl Simmons asked Pink to write a bridge section for the song "Just to Be Loving You".

Pink recorded her solo debut, Can't Take Me Home, with a variety of songwriting partners and dance-pop and RB producers. Released in 2000, the album was a double-platinum hit; it spun off three Top Ten singles in "There U Go," "Most Girls," and "You Make Me Sick." She toured that summer as the opening act for N Sync, but soon found herself tired of being pigeonholed as strictly a teen act despite her sassy, forthright persona. As she set about working on her follow-up album, Pink took part in the remake of Patti LaBelle's "Lady Marmalade" featured on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, which also featured powerhouse divas Christina Aguilera, Mya, and Lil' Kim. The song was a massive hit, topping the charts in both the U.S. and U.K. Pink released her next single, "Get the Party Started"; it became her biggest, most inescapable hit to date, climbing into the Top Five. Pink next issued Try This in November 2003. The album was a bit more rock-oriented. Her next album, I'm Not Dead, appeared that April; its first single, "Stupid Girls," quickly became a hit, and the album reached the Top Ten.

2006 MTV Video Music Awards Mega Picture Post

the Emmy Awards more entertaining (and nipple slippy) than the MTV Music Video Awards. It was painful watching that show. From Jack Black's incredibly lame jokes, to the horendous performances that had me hitting the mute button every five minutes, and the absolutely retarded Britney Spears/Kevin Federline thing, watching this show felt like torture. There were a few highlights, like OK GO doing a live version of their treadmill dance, Abigail Breslin, the little girl from Little Miss Sunshine (one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time), Sarah Silverman's dig at Paris Hilton (which could have been better), Al Gore bringing the environment back (like Justin Timberlake is bringing sexy back), and, um... That's it, actually. This show really sucked. But that live treadmill dance was really cool.

I Don't Need To See: Pink's Nipples

Along with Nicole Richie in a bikini, something I don't need to see is Pink's nipples. Now, you might be saying "dude, your whole site is about nipples," and you would be right, but there's just something about Pink that I find a little disconcerting. I don't know, maybe it's that she's a man, or just really butch, or that she's just not very attractive, but if I had to take it or leave, I think I'd choose the latter.
