About
Salma Hayek |
|
Salma Hayek has
charisma and an amazing presence. Widely considered to be the first Mexican
actress to become a Hollywood movie star since Dolores Del Rio, Salma Hayek
is known for bringing a fiery presence and striking, dark-eyed beauty to the
screen. A soap star in her native Mexico, Hayek risked her entire career to
come to L.A., where she struggled to be taken seriously. Her discovery by
director Robert Rodriguez, who cast her in his 1995 film Desperado, gave
Hayek her breakthrough, and she subsequently gained a reputation as one of
Hollywood's sexiest and busiest actresses.
"I keep waiting to meet a man who has more balls than I do." -Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek's Birthday |
Salma Hayek was
born on September 2, 1966, and raised in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. Her
religious parents -- father of Lebanese descent, mother of Spanish descent
-- wanted to ensure that their daughter would be well-educated, and sent her
to a Louisiana boarding school when she was 12. Sent back home for being a
prankster, Hayek finished high school and was sent to Houston to live with
her aunt until the age of 17. She subsequently moved to Mexico City, where
she studied International Relations as a university student, but, to the
chagrin of her family, decided to drop out in order to pursue a career as an
actress. Starting out in local theatre productions, she eventually moved to
television and landed a starring role in the popular soap opera Teresa. The
show's success made Hayek a celebrity in her native country, but, desiring
something more, she shocked her fans by deciding to quit the show in order
to pursue a career in L.A.

Salma Hayek as Actress |
|
Hayek started
out doing local theater, including a role as the female lead in Aladdin and
His Marvelous Lamp. Theater work eventually led to commercials, which
finally led to a part on a series called Un nuevo amanecer. Hayek was
considered a star in Mexico for her role as Teresa in the popular soap opera
of the same name. This was, however, not enough for the ambitious beauty who
had set her sights on Hollywood.
Her big break had finally arrived, and it was mostly thanks to her
appearance on a Spanish-language cable talk show. Director Robert Rodriguez
caught Hayek's appearance, and knew he had to cast her for the sequel to his
successful film El Mariachi: 1995's Desperado, opposite Antonio Banderas.
Roles in 1995's Fair Game and 1996's Fled did not do the actress justice,
but with Salma Hayek websites finding their home in cyberspace and roles
pouring in, audiences were sure to take notice of this Mexican beauty. In
1996, Salma appeared in Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn with George
Clooney and Quentin Tarantino, and starred alongside Matthew Perry in the
1997 romantic comedy, Fools Rush In. Hayek charmed audiences with her role
as Esmeralda in a TNT rendition of The Hunchback of Notre Dame simply called
Hunchback. Hayek's film repertoire continued to expand, with a role as a
cocaine-sniffing dancer in 54, based on the rise and fall of the popular
'70s nightclub. She also starred opposite Jordana Brewster and Elijah Wood
in 1998's teen slasher flick, The Faculty . |

| I'm Thankful for Salma
Hayek's Breasts |
|
|
I'm Canadian, so I don't do the whole Thanksgiving thing, but that
doesn't mean I can't take a second and appreciate the good things in
life. And two of those good things, actually, very good things, are
Salma Hayek's breasts.
They're bountiful, plentiful, and just a whole lot of fun to look at. So
while you're sitting around the Thanksgiving day table, being thankful
for friends and family, remember to be thankful for Salma Hayek, and
Egotastic! too. Because where else are you gonna get stuff like this?
