If your house has enough free space or your family or activities get bigger, you can go for extensions of building features. Some of the issues pertaining to home remodeling and additions encompass creating rooms for guests or extended families, store rooms, catering to the special needs of disabled, getting the requisite permit for additions and locating the place for making these additions.

Accommodating the Extended Family

Before letting your premises to a party, make sure that it is permissible by law and would not be a nuisance to your neighbors. The local zoning ordinances make it impossible for you to offer the guests separate cooking and other amenities, if it is a single-family house.
If it is officially permitted, you can let someone in, by providing separate cooking and bathing facilities. If you can arrange for a separate doorway for the guest, it would be handy for both the parties.

Room Annexations

You can add any room from kitchen to bathroom to study-room or bedroom. It is advisable to consult a professional architect while annexing rooms, to finalize the floor plan of the house along with the materials that might be needed. Remember to keep an account of all the expenses and be cautious about the budget before commencing the construction.

Partitioning a Bedroom

In many countries, around the world, it is common for the children to share the bedroom with their parents. However, in America, children would opt for a separate bedroom when they are nine years of age, with siblings sharing the same room. In such cases, a large room could be partitioned using a large closet, which on opening would make a spacious passage which allows passing either way between these two rooms. But, teenagers should be given separate rooms.

Kid’s Room

Many a time it is seen that baby’s bathroom is overlooked while home modeling. It is better to include a sink in the kid’s room so that you need not depend on your own bathroom or the kitchen sink anymore. You can very easily fix a sink into an old dresser in the room and connect with the pipes on hand.  Verify whether you require special permit for this work. It is better to assign all the plumbing works to a qualified hand instead of doing on your own. As it would be difficult to tow away the furniture after plumbing, painting should be completed first.
